Take the family on a stroll through the narrow streets of Espeluche's historic center, a typical Provencal village center, organized in a "crown" with two stone gates at each end.
Description
Its narrow flower-lined streets and central fountain, just in front of "le banc du Seigneur", are enchanting. The walk continues along the peaceful, shady Chemin de Lalo.
A little history...
The village's name Espeluche comes from the word "Espeluca", so designated in the 14th century, and refers to the earliest traces of occupation on the territory, in the Neolithic period, when there were numerous caves. However, it was in the Middle Ages that Espeluche developed, with the famous Château de Lalo (giving its name to the Chemin de Lalo) being a strategic point. Its circular historic heart, still visible and inhabited today, was built in the 16th century.
