Domaine Galuval

Domaine de Galuval is located in the Rhône Valley between Cairanne and Rasteau, and offers creative wines with an assertive style, revealing the richness of the fruit and the diversity of its terroir.

Description

Founded in the first half of the 20th century, the estate has decided to give a second life to this place steeped in history and tradition.
This second life involves a complete overhaul of the wine range, a new identity with a brand-new label, and the transition of the estate to HVE 3 certification, with a view to going over to organic farming as soon as possible. Respect for the grapes from the vine, through manual harvesting by the crate, right through to the cellar, with a gravity-fed cellar and the use of as few inputs as possible.

Marked by ancient history thanks to the presence of ancient Roman villas, Domaine de Galuval finds the etymology of its name in the Latin terms "Gallia" and "Uva", meaning Gaul and grape respectively.
With its 49 hectares, the Domaine's vineyards cover several Côtes du Rhône appellations, including Crus Cairanne and Rasteau.

The Domaine benefits from different nuances of terroir, ranging from sharp, sunny slopes to terraces on the right bank of the Eygues. The soils are worked and amended to enhance their vitality and preserve their freshness, essential elements in a dry Mediterranean climate exposed to the Mistral wind.

Methods such as trellising for certain grape varieties, disbudding and green harvesting significantly reduce the need for phytosanitary protection and ensure a high-quality harvest.

The healthier the grapes at harvest, the more they express the nature of their terroir without artifice.

To obtain wines that retain the natural power of Grenache, while gaining in finesse and elegance vintage after vintage, the estate is implementing an ambitious vineyard restructuring program.
